As an apology for not being around so often (lately and in the future), I offer you this post.
Most of the time I throw up new music pretty carelessly. I've thought about cutting back on the posts, and instead focusing on quality writing, reviews, and journalistic stories that involve research, wit, and effort. I always resort to short posts filled with nonsense and littered with profanity. Hope you like it!
Taste is a matter of opinion, so sometimes it's better to just give you as much as I can and let you decide what you want and what you don't. I try to focus on music that is either really good or really relevant (when a new Black Eyed Peas song comes out, I post it, burn it to a CD, pour Everclear and lighter fluid on it, and set it on fire while performing a ritualistic dance.) I don't like it, but I think it's worth checking out. I think this is best for music fiends like myself who want to get a little taste of everything that comes out, but I know it can be overwhelming for people who like to check out new music every now and then. If you come to P&P every week or so, it's probably a big headache trying to check everything you missed.
The "best of the week" post is convenient, but ends up being a really tedious task. At the end of the week, a lot of the "best" songs have been taken down, and the line between "best" and "most popular" gets really blurry to a blogger trying to balance quality and hits. So maybe this "best of" post is going to turn into something more like this.
This post is meant to give you some insight into what I'm listening to, what I like, and what I suggest. So burn that shit to a CD and call it Pigeon Shit. When I posted this, all the links were good. So get it fast, because I'm sure some of them will be deaded soon. Here we go.

Props! The site has been really hard to keep up with since you added new bloggers. Not that the quality has gone down but its a lil bit of an overload. If you miss a few days or arent checking the site every 20 minutes there are like 15 more posts and you feel like u miss out on some gems. People talk a lot of shit on the blogs cuz one song doesnt sound good at the time but I think you go epic taste in music and keep up the goodwork!
I agree w/ Rivas. I kind of hate it when I check the other blogs I like & realized that I missed so much. Let me know if you want to make a max amount of post.
I think it all depends. If something is good enough to deserve a post I think it should go up regardless of how many other good songs came out that day you know? I don't want to put a max on it.
Maybe every week or every couple of weeks putting up a few of your favorites would help make it easier, but by that time a lot of those songs have been taken down and shit. I don't know. I'm still trying to find that balance, but I'd rather put up too much music than too little for sure.
I check P&P everyday.
Missed a day, and had to look through two pages.
Not bad, nut just saying.
Like Dominus, I too check the site every day, infact I often check this site a few times a day.
Just post whatever music(or anything else) you like, too many blogs out there are just trying to post what they think others will like. You gotta do it for yourself.
I started reading Pigeons and Planes around last August/September...
Back then it was just you who was posting and I felt like you were posting just "GOOD MUSIC" rather than whats hot in the streets...you provided music from every genre with awesome feedback that painted a picture of the song in my head before i would listen to it.
Lately I have been VERY overwhelmed with the amount of posts and i feel like you post music you dont even necissarily like...
I started reading this blog because i thought we had similar tastes in music... I like music of all genres, and you would post only what you felt was good , and I loved that
What I was thinking is maybe you should start a new blog...only YOUR POSTS....kinda an add on to pigeons and planes...not updated every single day like p&p, but just when you hear something YOU actually really like that maybe not alot of people know about.....cause thats what I want to read about...that why i began reading this blog in the first place...not because you post every single peice of music released each day...its about GOOD music mann
sorry had to get that off my chest its been bothering me lately but im glad you have noticed it
...ive been a fan of urs for a long time man...not just one of these new cats that got ur site from a friend...i found this all on my own
I appreciate the info for sure. To be honest, I've always posted some music that I don't like. I usually attach a comment about how much I don't like it, but I think a lot of popular stuff is at least worth checking out when it leaks.
Secondly, I think I've always posted like a nut, even when it was just me. I just don't have as much time over the summer and my computer access is limited so I've brought on a couple people who have similar taste in music and who I trust to keep P&P up to date.
There's no way I can start another blog, but I will contribute to P&P as much as I can while I'm away, and I'll be back full time in August. So stick with it, keep giving feedback, and I'll make sure to put up all the good music I come across.
I personally only post what I like. What I consider to be good/great music. If it's popular and I posted it, I didn't post it because it's popular!
I'm definitely going to try a best of the week post in the near future; see how that works out.
I know I post a lot, but I see/hear a lot of good sh!t that I feel is worth sharing.
I have been checking your site multiple times a day since the first couple weeks you put this up. And honestly, you sometimes may post too many songs, but fuck it, you have yet to go wrong. So keep doing what you're doing.
Dude, I check your site about 5 times a day (7am-5pm) during the work week so I really dont mind all the posts. I am pretty sure my boss has a different opinion on that. I definitely dig the variety of music you post. Whatever the future holds for P&P, I will still be checking your site hourly as long as I have a job. Keep the music coming...
im another one of them that come here alot and check your site out on a daily basis. I always look forward to see what you guys have posted and listen to see. I am also one of them that love all genres of music and love this site. just keep doing what your doing and don't worry everybody will be back and continue to check the site out.
Ok, well i have read every comment so far so i think pretty much everything has been said. But i am going to speak my peace too. Confusion, I love P&P, been with it since forever ago. Also loved the post, how you go in-depth describing each post. I like how you have asked other bloggers such as Ramz to help out. Even though Ramz is a rapper he still posts other genres and video that are good, So that is a plus. Never had a thought about this site. Much support. Keep doing your thing. I will continue to check the site daily wayyyy toooo much, but i am fine with that. Keep it up because you have tons of people that check this page daily and they wouldn't if they didn't like what all of you were doing here at P&P. Peace
i think that you guys post too many videos, so if somebody misses a day or two for whatever reason, they're fucked for those two days of music because theres a lot of posts to go through and vids take up a lot of space.
Thanks for all the love and all the criticism! I appreciate it, and I hear you on the complaints. Still working on making this place as good as it can be.
regarding pleasantkillers problem: you could probably avoid stuff like this if you made an overall "new music" and "video" and "other" tags, or maybe something like that?
I check this frequently enough that I'm not worried about missing things. But if you do a "best of the week" please limit it to 5 - 7 songs! Otherwise the post seems like a summary of the week rather than the best it had to offer.
