Pigeons and Planes x Racks and Stands Giveaway!

The good people at Racks and Stands reached out to P&P for collaboration on a giveaway contest. The winner will get to choose anything valued at $130 or less and get it shipped to them at no cost. Check out the site and pick an item from entertainment centers to speaker stands to cd/dvd storage. To enter the contest is simple. Leave a comment on this post and let me know what you like best about P&P and what you like least about it. Sounds stupid, but it will help me really understand what I'm doing right and what I need to work on. Leave an email address and I'll pick a random winner and let you know next Friday (July 24th). Ready? Go.

Hmm, this seems like a dope contest, could definitely use the racks.

But yeah.

I personally like the work ethic of the contributors, the equal dedication. Simply put, that it's not just one person doing all the work as on other sites. That cohesiveness is absent a lot nowadays.

Only thing I can think of that I'm not TOO fond of is the background wallpaper. There's nothing really wrong with it, but I feel thats the object of the lowest satisfaction provided here.

Keep up the good work. My email is frederickthelazarus@gmail.com

watup confusion.. man where do I start. I remember the day i got into your blog. I was just randomly googling my favorite band glassjaw and i saw a posting with the song 'you think you're john (fucking) lennon' so i downloaded it and started to read up on your website to find out that you blog a lot about hip hop. Our generation is made up of kids with very open minds that make hip hop tracks by digging through soul and jazz records and listen to indie rock and hardcore during the day. You are the first person to put all of these under the same roof and your good at that. The only constructive criticism i can give u is to post about bands and artists that might not have anything new to put out, but that you might feel didn't get the recognition they were supposed to at their time for example R.A. the Rugged Man or Dance Gavin Dance. Other than that ur doing a great job man keep doing what you do! I'll be reading...

First off definitely doing a great job, the first time I came on I was like dam they're posting ALL good music from different genres. Pretty much the main reason I like the site and its not over-bearing as well.. like if i'm out a couple days I don't have to go back 9 pages to see whats up.
I really don't know what to say about 'what i like least' so ill just say more Dj remixes/re-edits

be easy

What's good??? This is Flair from JJM ENT. I have found myself comin back to this site more and more and found it pretty interesting

One good thing about the site......you post current and REAL hiphop one of the few sites I have found to do so.
One thing I don't like would probably be the background. I feel as thought there should be a little more goin

First of all, I need to say that you're doing damn near everything right! I love the fact that it's not strictly hip hop on the site, but anything at all that sounds good... I'm really feeling that

I'm not sure what I like least... drawing a blank here, you're really covering all media and doing it from a 360 perspective with good user feedback

Pigeons and Planes is one of many blogs that I discovered through my daily perusing of hypem but one of the few that I actually decided to follow independently of hypem. I found that you guys were always topping the charts on songs I loved on hypem. The reason for this is that you guys combine awesome hip hop but also give me great indie rock that i cant get by perusing my normal jaunts (onsmash, nahright, etc...).

My constructive critique would be to add a bit more mashup/dj stuff (diplo, switch, e-60,etc) and to do posts for old school artists once in awhile.

Hmmmm....something I like about this blog besides the background lol. Well I love the variety of music you have here & the up and coming artist that tell us about (B.o.B.). Sadly without this site my ipod would be pretty empty.
The one thing I don't like about this place is the lack of mash-ups. I know its pretty hard to find any really good ones but this just my opinion.

Besides that I love the place Confusion. lol I check this place at least 3-4 times a day. Keep up the good work.

This is one of my favorite sites. It's been a fixture in my "most visited" list in firefox since late winter of this year. This site, along with other things, has lead to me start to do a little music blogging myself.

What I love about this site and others, such as PMA especially, is the blend of new, semi-alternative Hip-Hop and Indie rock that seem to get most of the posts here. I though for the longest time that I was one of very select group of people that loved these two subgenres so much, but this site has revealed that there are many people with the a similar taste to me. Music from this site especially has expanded my musical horizons some and has helped me through more than a few tough days. Keep up the good work Confusion.

That being said, i think there's ways that this site could be improved. I think that the authors, especially Confusion, should post links to new songs with their opinions (and not just "check out this dope new track from x artist"). I don't think I'm alone in saying I trust your opinions. The design of the site isn't the greatest, but it's good enough that it doesn't bother me. I think the site could benefit from a better visual layout. Also I'd like to see the return of P&P best of the week.

I always recommend this site to anyone who likes hip hop or indie. Keep posting.

The thing I like most about this website is that you post quality music, and not only post it but give an explaination on why you think it is post worthy. As for what I don't like, I don't think I can think of anything, I check this site regularly and plan to continue to do so. Thanks!

As a College Radio Dj (Virginia Commonwealth University), I stay on music sites just to see whats new. My friend Matt Conover (look above...whatup matt) but me on to this site and i check it every day. I like that you guys give spotlight to up in coming artists and cover a wide array of music. A lot of the song posts end up on my Ipod then they end up on my radio show. I would like to thank you guys for opening my eyes to different genres and artist. The mashups and remixs are dope and the videos very rarely disappoint.

Now the negative. I think the background should be a lil more vibrant and lively. Sometimes when there is a post that im unsure of listening to i would like a lil opinion from the poster. I mean im not gonna listen to any 50/ soulja boy/(fill in random trash rapper) but if it is someone i have never heard of i would like a lil insight and critical analysis.

Other than that i love this site. I use Google chrome and P&P is the number one bookmark on my bookmark page.

I like P&P because you can tell that the writers are every bit as obsessed with music as the readers. You guys manage to skim through countless amounts of artists from a good variety of backgrounds and genres, and deliver the best and most progressive. Another plus is that the posts normally have some form of write-up so that we get a background and an opinion, which is a great feature that a lot of other blogs lack. As for the background, I don't really mind it, I'm here for music, not asthetics. A lot of times I'm actually turned off by complex navigation and features.

There aren't very many negatives to P&P, the only thing that I'd like to see is a bit more creativity on the right banner, maybe a section to keep up with particular artists or something.

But overall its great, keep up the site, its definitely one of the best around.

Hey whats up P&P?

Great idea for a contest simple, mutually beneficial to both parties, and relates the prize to music.

Theres a ton of stuff i like about the site. Teh variety of music, you guys play it all. I remember I first came across your site looking for some Bloc Party b-sides but once I started looking through it it turned me onto a bunch of different artist. The comedy or little jokes are funny too. The last that had me rolling was when you guys posted the list of richest hip-hop artist and said id rather be poor than be diddy.

The one downside to the site is that its not the simplest thing to listen to the music that you post. I know you can go to a different site (Zshare) and stream it there but if you were to have some insite player that lets you stream it from the homepage that would make it a lot easier i feel. And also whenever you post the end of the week best of seeing how theres so many I think it would be a good idea to offer them all up in the form of one .rar file instead. That way I dont have to go through them all and open up 20 different pages to download 20 different songs. Its a lot easier to get all the songs at once and then just delete the files if you dont like them.

Other than that keep up the good work.

P&P,

this blog spans many diverse genres to provide readers with good music that is tough to find. whether it's the new b.o.b. mixtape or an obscure vampire weekend cover, P&P is the first to bring it to my attention.

i wish there was more links to full albums/mixtapes. you can only fully delve into an artist when you listen to an entire album.

I love the amount of effort put into the site, and the sleek design of the site. I love how there is a summary below every post, and that it gives the feel of a "big" blog, but still feels welcoming.
The only negatives about the site would be that there should be more shine for artists that are not as well known, reaching out to talented artists that arent signed yet can be a REALLY good look for the artist and for the blog if done right.
my email is j.knopf23x@gmail.com thanks!

I like the constant uploads, and that you guys stay on top of almost every good release out there as it comes out. But there are too many pointless videos, and it gets too clattered sometime. I also didn't like the new banner you guys made, I liked the old plain one more.
But you guys still rock, one of the best blogs i know.

Like: I do like the diversity of music while staying core to the music and not just putting stuff up for cool points that noone likes to listen to. I also appreciate the fact i dont have to hear about bull shit beef between artists via interviews and youtube but you will but up a good diss track if the song is good. I also like the interaction between the posters and the comments like you really are giving the people what they want if it makes sense to do so.

I don't personally have a problem with the look of the site as many others do. The one thing that does bug me sometimes because I'm lazy is that when you click on a link to a song to check out it doesn't open in a new window, so you can keep reading while listening to the song... but i could just right click... also mediashare is lame but hey its a small nusance for good music

What's up fellas.. I like P&P because it gives me music that i can jam to no matter what friends I'm chillin with. I also like the site because with each post there's also a write-up, so if you say the song sucks, I'll wait til later to get to it. I feel like when I'm here I get all the music I need to get, but you also save me the trouble of going through the stuff I won't like. It's not about the quantity of the posts, it's about the quality.

I also like the site because you guys have kinda actually inspired me to start a blog of my own. I'm a journalism major, so I'm always told to start one anyway, but sometimes we convincing rather than orders. It's not up yet, but you'll hear from me when it is.

Anyway, if I had to knock the site, I'd probably say update the news stuff on the side a bit more. A few people said they don't like the background that much, but I kinda disagree. There's not too much going on, which saves me from my ADD.

Keep doing what you're doing. It's good that you want feedback, because many times people are afraid to receive it.

The things that I like best about P&P is that I go here to find music that I can't really find anywhere else. I trust your judgement on the music you post, and I love the fact that I can come here everyday and download dope music. It's a great feeling.

You don't have anything to work on at all. You're doing a great job so don't change anything.

Hope this feedback helps dude.

I feel like a douche for just commenting to this and not any other of the posts you have put up, but this is 130$ contest lol.

This is the main site i check out, at least 7 times a week if not more. I like how you dedicate your self to listening to music and providing ear openers for other people out there that strive for music but dont have time to start there own blog. Your diversity in music keeps me hooked to this site. I myself am getting tired of the rap coming out, I like the rappers that keep it hip-hop and not mainstream rap. Also for all the artist out there that arent afraid to produce techno and indie music, sometimes i like diversity and a get away from rap.

I think that the couple of improvements that can be done with this blog site, is the fact that you have to wait 50 seconds to download a song after you listen to it. I know how you can use the secret code to speed up the time, but i dont wanna have to go to the page every time and get it. I know that sounds lazy, but that is the only thing I can think of that is bad about this blog site.....In other words you got a bad mama jama site. You sir are a gentleman and a scholar

Keep up the posts and new tunes,

Gabe Guzman

pro: fresh, dope, new music from MULTIPLE genres accompanied by short, concise commentary. i get so bummed reading, reading, and reading all the bullshit people have to say about whatever track they're posting.
con: clean up the right column...i never know whats going on over there. go simple(r) with it.

Well, first off all aesthetically, I think the color scheme for the site could be improved a little. The gray background and cream colored font could have a little more contrast which would make the text a bit easier to read/nicer to look at. Personally, I think white on black would look a little more clean. Then again, my vision isn't all that great to begin with so it might be fine for most other readers haha.

I love the format of the site, lots of good links and good content. Nice mix of genres too. I especially like the format of a simple photo, a little bit of text and a download link- looks really nice and loads quickly on the computer. Whereas most blogs seem to be overfilled with youtube embeds, I like your format much better.

Great blog, looking forward to checking out all your updates!
