You knew it was coming. Fuze started working on this immediately when he heard the Jay-Z track, and he had the final copy to me last night. I wanted to give "D.O.A." a minute to sink in before posting remixes, but I think everyone who's been on the internet in the past 24 hours has heard it by now, so here we go.

Fuze takes an interesting, unexpected take on this. I'm sure he's gonna ruffle some feathers on this one, since most people have already bought a ticket to ride Jay's train of thought.

Just saw this new Yo La Tengo at MFR and figured that you guys could use a break from all the new hip hop. YLT's album Popular Songs will be out September 8th on Matador Records. I can't lie, Yo La Tengo has never done anything for me. They are one of those bands that have been around for years and music snobs will give you funny looks when you tell them you don't like it. Then they'll tell you why the music is so important and that your favorite indie band wouldn't exist without them. Yo La Tengo isn't bad at all, but there's nothing there I can really grab onto.

That being said, this is a pretty cool song.

First off, I'm jealous because they are a live hip-hop band! Now that that's out of the way..

Straight out of Miami, is a dope (and I mean DOPE) hip-hop band named ArtOfficial. This band consists of Danny Perez on keys, Manny Patino on drums, Ralf Valencia on bass, and Keith Cooper on the saxophone; with vocals provided by emcees Newsense and Logics.
ArtOfficial has rocked out on stage with the likes of Pharaoh Monch, KRS-One & more as well as performing at 2007's Rock The Bells festival which was headlined by Nas & the Wu. ArtOfficial has also won first place @ the Florida Grammy Showcase and beat out more than 1,000 bands to earn the second runner-up position in Lollapalooza’s 2008 “Last Band Standing.”

Well, here I present to you all their EP titled *Stranger* (which obviously came out before 4-2008). The first thing you will notice on each track is the dope instrumentation. It's a refreshing blend of jazz and hip-hop, and the two emcees give the track even more depth with dope lyrics to match. Now this EP is available on iTunes for $5 if I'm not mistaken, but we have gotten the green light to allow you guys to download & enjoy it for free.

So what's the word? Is autotune dead because Jay-Z said so? Remember when he tried to kill the skinny jeans fad? Two kids in the suburbs started wearing JNCOs again. Not that I think autotune is here to stay, or that it is in any way an essential part of hip-hop, but do we really want a 40 39 year old deciding the direction that this genre takes in the future? Then again, it is Jay-Z. So maybe we do. Just in case Hov is right, Lil Wayne better release Rebirth with the quickness.

Frank Ramz - The Traitor

Ramz posted some info about this project Make The Road By Walking, but when something like this comes around, it's worth giving a little extra attention. Ramz goes in over Menahan's Street Band's vibrant, soulful instrumental album Make The Road By Walking and breathes even more energy into each song, taking us through his perspective on life, struggles, success, and the things that we all go through while we try to keep it moving. Ramz always says he wants to perform with a live band. This album is beyond convincing that he'd be able to handle that like a pro. (Bands, get at Ramz ASAP). He navigates the soulful terrain laid down by Menahan's Street Band with ease, and sounds smooth as The Goose doing it.

I'm glad "The Traitor" is the first song Ramz decided to introduce, because it's one of my personal favorites from the album, and gives you a real idea of what to expect. Those horns and that slick bassline alone are enough to win me over, but add in Ramz's realness, and this track is a true gem.

Phew. I think this was just what Kobe Bryant needed, a whole song by Lil Wayne dedicated to him and his greatness. I was really starting to get worried that his confidence level was low and his ego needed a boost. In return, maybe he should say a few nice things about Weezy, who also seems to suffer from a lack of self-worth.

Here's some info on the project & the tracklist:

Simply put, I looked into the original sample from Jay-Z's "Roc Boys". Found out it was the Menahan Street Band & immediately looked into their work. Found out that the original sample was titled "Make The Road By Walking", which was also the name of the album it was on. Brought the album, loved every track on it & was instantly inspired to do something to each track. I kept all of their titles and basically kept the same album art also And there aren't any curses on this project; family friendly! :-D.

Basically, we are all trying to make the road by walking. We are taking small steps everyday towards our goals in life. Some ppl may even be walking in reverse. Wtv. But during this walk, we go thru alot of ups and downs that may get us sidetracked. At the end of the day, we must take the good with the bad and keep it moving on this road.

Regina Spektor is weird quirky, and I dig it. For those who were on the fence about that song she did about God/laughing, here's one that won't leave you with that uncomfortable feeling swimming in your stomach and that annoying itch in your brain. With a melody like this, you could sing a dolphin song and make it sound nice. I take that back. (Wait until 2:00. Why does the dolphin song sound like a sea lion?). But other than that, it's a nice little piece of Regina.

The game comes out 9/9/09. This is also the day that the entire digitally remastered Beatles discography will be released. It will feature 45 songs. More info at the official website.

I'm sure this is some hardcore Beatles fans' worst nightmare. It's like hearing one of your favorite songs in a bad commercial x 100. On a positive note, maybe this will help preserve the Beatles' legend among the younger kids. On a negative note, everytime they hear "I Am The Walrus", they will be visualizing a guitar neck with little bars flying by and thinking "I can play this on expert!"

There aren't too many female pop artists that I can really get into. Lykke Li is my number one, since she manages to balance straight up catchy pop gems with a Swedish weirdness that I'm drawn to. Close behind her is Little Boots. Little Boots goes a little bit heavier on the production, adding in layers of synths and creating some crazy audio effects with that weird little Japanese instrument she always seems to carry around. Thanks to Persona Sauna, you can check out a couple new leaks from Hands. Sound quality leaves something to be desired, but this will give you an idea of what to expect.
