R.I.P. Michael Jackson

Ok. I don't have much time, and I just found this out (no TV, radio, internet, etc. all day), so I haven't fully processed it yet. Michael Jackson is dead. No matter what you think of the man, he has made some amazing music, and is one of the biggest international music icon of our time. I grew up dancing/flailing my limbs wildly to Bad, Thriller, Off the Wall, and Dangerous. I'm not going to try to sum up the meaning of this, as I'm sure millions of voices louder than my own will handle that, but I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that it feels weird that there is no more Michael Jackson. RIP.

Got something for you. Don't ask questions. I have no idea. Saw this posted at a blog that was not in English, so I have no idea about the background. And I can't listen to it at the moment, so I can't describe it. But it's Don fucking Diablo. And it's the Roots. And it's the Seed 3.0. So I can pretty safely assume that this remix will be the shit.

I'm thinking "The Seed 2.0" with more bass, more drums, more build up, and a larger surface area. Let me know.

Music Video! Starsailor - "All the Plans"

Steve Osborne and engineered by Dan Austin. Both Osborne and Austin have worked with Doves, coincidentally. The video keeps it simple, showing the band perform at a Hard Rock. It's nicely executed – the camera angles and cuts match the mood of the song nicely, and the video doesn't try to be more than it is.

Music Video! Green Day - "21 Guns"

"21 Guns" is Green Day's latest single from their 21st Century Breakdown album. Its video was directed by Marc Webb, whose film debut (500) Days of Summer comes out in July and stars Zooey Deschanel. Webb's previous work with My Chemical Romance and Weezer means he was well prepared to deliver a slick, moody, smokey clip anchored by an unchallenging plot. Lots of bullets fly through the room where Green Day serenades a couple and some fish. Everyone survives the bullets, but I'm not sure that the viewers' sense of good times makes it past the video's literal visuals (if you wanted to see a cracked mirror as Billie Joe Armstrong sings about broken glass, check out the edit around 1:48).
