J. Cole is the best rapper on this list. Kid Cudi is EXTREMELY over rated as an MC. His style undoubtedly feels forced, as if he's trying TOO HARD to be cool and hip. Even Wale's style/swag seems to come off more natural. But as far as the best ALL AROUND, polished rapper on this list...It's J. Cole hands down. Just from listening to "The Warm Up" you can tell he knows how to put together an ACTUAL SONG, instead of just over loading tracks with punchlines. Which, in turn will give him more longevity in the industry.

You're absolutely right. This is why I usually steer clear of ranking. I think it completely depends on the artist too. Some artist are all about lyrics. For others, lyrics are a small part of the big picture. This is in no way intended as a way for people to decide who is better. Hmmmm... I don't hugely disagree with any of your specific rankings, but I think this whole ranking system is dangerous. You're assigning equal value to every category, so a 10 in image is just as important as a 10 in lyrics? It's tempting to want to be able to come up with tangible proof something is better than something else, but it's hard to find a legitimate way to do it.

about Cudi - Dat Kid From Cleveland wasn't an official mixtape and I don't think Cudi had anything to do with it. It was just a collection of recent songs and guest spots. So it didn't have that same cohesive feeling. Can't hold that against Cudi though. And I think some of the album leaks are unfinished. We'll see.

It must have taken you quite while to write up but I really think its worth it!
Occasionally the blog can lack character when its so focussed on only posting what's new and not adding some conscious opinion but this was a great post.
Im definitely for Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa and Novel making the next list...
