Our Favorite New Music Submissions Directly From Artists

Music discovery is at the heart of the P&P mission. Over the years we've tried so many ways to keep submissions open to ALL artists, no matter their location or connections. Email addresses get overwhelmed with blasts from PR companies and labels, phishing attempts, and odd emails from bird enthusiasts.

Since we relaunched our website in January, with a dedicated page for submissions, nearly 5,000 of you have sent in songs and videos for consideration. We appreciate every single person who created something and decided to share it with us.

We’re a small team and the links fly in thick and fast, but we do our best to comb through them regularly and share what’s resonating. It’s an (admittedly) disorganized and DIY process, but there’s nothing like finding a new favorite song in the depths of the submissions spreadsheet.

What should we know?
“TOOSTEPPER” is the product of every genre that has informed my musical identity. Though I come from an R&B and soul background, rock music has always been just as important to me. This song feels like the first time I’ve allowed all of those influences to occupy the same space, resulting in something that feels cohesive and true to who I am as an artist. This is the first single and title track of my new 7-track EP. There’s also a short music film that accompanies the project that debuted in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on June 26th and 27th.

Zoumer

Name: Zoumer

What should we know?
Zoumer is the project of Copenhagen-based, Danish-Algerian producer, singer, and songwriter Yasmina Derradj. The record explores identity, vulnerability, and the search for a comfortable space between cultural backgrounds.

Derradj’s most recent album, e.a.l. (euro arab lovergirl), is built from collages of percussion, field recordings, voice notes, vocal freestyles, MIDI strings, guitar, oud and sampled qanun.

Pangol

What should we know?
I’m currently releasing a 22 song visual project, with a new song and music video every three weeks. I recently shared the second chapter, “cheesy grunge.”

For “cheesy grunge,” I really wanted to reconnect with my childhood memories. Back then, I listened to Nirvana, Deftones, Sum 41, The Offspring, and even Avril Lavigne every single day. I also wanted to recreate the vibe of the opening credits of Malcolm in the Middle.

What should we know?
We’re ENVIE (“on-vee”), three women of colour from East London :)

“Violently Friendly” is about how frustrating it is trying to hold onto a friendship when the other person keeps trying to push it into something romantic. It’s about setting boundaries and creating some distance and honestly just wishing someone would accept that friendship is enough and nothing else.

This song is coming from a place of annoyance and frustration when someone you love as a friend keeps projecting a romanticised version of yourself due to their own personal feelings. It’s a punchy and almost sarcastic song about creating some distance and letting them know you only like them in a “Violently Friendly” way…

MANSA

MANSA is a four-piece alternative band from Chicago. The song “BUSINESS” is about two lovers who want to shut out the world and just focus on their relationship. There are a lot of layers within the song, including the juke outro. We hope you like it.

JAY MALAKHI

What should we know?
I’m a hip-hop artist from Kent, UK, inspired by Isaiah Rashad and Kojey Radical. Over the past year I’ve toured with Canadian artist Jev, secured a sync placement with Renault, and taken part in international songwriting camps. Following a 10-month hiatus, I’m excited to return with my new single, “Liquor & Indomie.” I was also honored to be named by P&P as one of the UK Nigerian artists to watch.

“Liquor & Indomie” is a nostalgic melodic track that looks back on my university years, when money was tight but life felt like an adventure. Driven by a groovy bassline, triumphant trumpets and Afro-Latin percussion, the track reflects on living off cheap noodles, spending what little money we had on nights out, and the friendships and memories that made those years some of the best of our lives.

What should we know?
I make exploratory music for anxious times, somewhere between experimental electronic and avant-pop. “gets lost” is the fourth in a series of singles I’m releasing across 2026. The track is about the disorientation and comfort of being swallowed by the vastness of the hyperurban, or what happens when your phone dies on a walk. Notes of: jungle, IDM, something poppy. It’s out on 7/31.

Lace Mine

Name: Lace Mine
Location: Auckland

What should we know?
I wrote this song in my 100-year-old grandmother’s basement in New Zealand.
After I wrote it, I walked 450km alone with a tent across Europe. I camped with wolves and in lightning storms. While I was hiking, a music label in London asked me to come and record this song.

The music video is self-shot, and was never intended to be made public. I filmed my eyes for six months to capture my depression on camera. Over 15 million people saw the footage before the song even came out.

I’ve realized I’m an artist documenting the discomfort of being human, and music happens to be the medium.

What should we know?
SYTË is an NYC-based indie pop duo making music that lives somewhere between polished pop and something a little more left-of-center — catchy and immediate, but with a strong visual and artistic identity behind it.

“Go Ahead” is the first single from our upcoming EP, Illusions Are Over. The project explores that moment when the version of something you’ve built up in your head starts to fall apart and you’re forced to see it for what it actually is. “Go Ahead” is the entry point into that world — bright and infectious on the surface, but rooted in the tension of letting go, moving forward, and realizing that sometimes clarity only comes once the illusion is gone.

The EP drops August 28, 2026.
